Le designer danois Morten Husum Nielsen a créé une chaise incroyable : la chaise OAK OAK. Elle est destinée aux enfants et comprend un espace de stockage pour des jouet, livres et autres accessoires. Cette pièce ludique et multifonctionnelle de mobilier comporte deux parties, un cadre en chêne et un siège de liège. Lorsque vous retirez le couvercle du siège, vous avez accès au compartiment de stockage.

« Il y a place pour beaucoup de Lego dans le fauteuil!», dit Morten. La boîte se compose de petites pièces qui sont assemblées comme un puzzle et maintenues en place par le cadre. Ainsi, la chaise peut être facilement démontée et remontée qui la rend particulièrement facile à déplacer et stocker, er permet aussi à l’enfant de participer à l’assemblage de sa chaise.

L’idée principale du projet est de redécouvrir un matériau traditionnel, le liège, en utilisant de nouvelles formes de production. En fait, OAK OAK est une réinterprétation de la boîte Settle, un ancien type de meubles connu par son compartiment de rangement sous le siège. Morten s’est rendu compte que le liège est un matériau parfait pour une chaise d’enfant: « il est chaud et facile à traiter de telle sorte que les bords souples empêchent les enfants de se faire du mal. » Cool non ?

The box consists of smaller parts which are assembled like a puzzle and held in place by the frame. So the chair is that it can easily be taken apart and put back together, which not only makes it easy to store and move but also acts like a part of the experience, where the child can participate in putting the chair together.

The project approach is about rediscovering a traditional material (cork) using new forms of production. In fact, OAK OAK is a reinterpretation of the box Settle, an old furniture type known by its storage compartment under its seat. Morten discovered that the cork material was a perfect fit for a children’s chair: ”it is warm and easy to process in such a way that the soft edges prevent the kids from harming themselves.”
